Sahana Medura
What We Do
Sahana Medura welcomes all those who seek help to overcome their mental trauma regardless of their religious or ethnic background, if they can satisfy the following criteria to become a resident.
Must be above eighteen years of age.
Must have a history of mental disorders as well as clinical records detailing said disorder.
Must have a legal guardian.
Must be able-bodied and capable of doing basic tasks by themselves.
Currently Sahana Medura cares for thirty residents who suffer from various mental illnesses ranging from Downs Syndrome to Schizophrenia. Among these residents are some who have been abandoned by their families and now are completely dependent on Sahana Medura and its well-wishers.
The residents follow a daily time table that consists of various types of physical, mental and spiritual therapy. Following the time table gives the residents a sense of routine and purpose. Some of them perform specific chores daily. While one may enjoy working in the garden, another is in charge of taking care of the animals. Each resident has their own identity and the staff wish for them to develop a sense of self-worth which could help them in overcoming their trauma.
Sahana Medura is also open to outsiders who wish to seek counsel regarding any problems they may have, such as problems regarding their family, marriage, studies or occupation. It is possible to schedule appointments for child counselling and family counselling as well.
